The First Snow of the Season Sets the Scene For an Awesome Late Afternoon Hike

Overnight Sunday (December 11th), we received the first appreciable snow of the season. Yes, we have received a few prior dustings here and there, but this time we got about 5 inches of wet, heavy snow. It was amazing that the snow stuck at all, since on Sunday the temperature started in the 50s with rain all day, gradually turning to snow at about 8 PM.

On Monday morning the scenery was spectacular, with the wet snow clinging to everything. I look forward to the first snow each season. It brings a quiet peace, a beauty hard to explain. Simply awesome!
