School Bus Memoirs Part 2

A short teenaged boy goes to school at 5 am on a Saturday in mid April. He recently enrolled in his new high school and does his best to follow the path he started on at his previous school. He arrives at school, bleary-eyed and in time to ride with his track team to the meet. It’s a three hour drive from their school. The team makes this drive over several weekends throughout the season.

The new school is in an isolated town in the barren West. Residents overcome this isolation by stoicly driving long hours for activities people in most other parts of the country can attend in their own local communities. This boy adjusts immediately and he settles in without complaint as if he had been living like this all his life, rather than within the few weeks that this became his new reality.

Visit Now
