The SAT Question that Everyone Got Wrong

It was a simple question about two circles. One of the circles had a radius 1/3 of the other circle, which meant that the other circle’s radius was 3 times the smaller circle. Now it asks as to how many revolutions of the small circle will it take to go around the larger one.

Now it seemed easy to the students and even the creators of the exam. Since the larger circle is 3 times the smaller circle’s radius, the small circle will revolve 3 times. That is what everyone thought.

The answer is 4 times and not 3. It was not even in the options because the creator of this question thought that the answer was 3 revolutions. To actually get to that answer, we would need to arrange this setup.
