The Scary Side of Salt Lake
<p>Originally, this cave was called “Hands and Knees Cave” because explorers crawled to get in. Ancient remans were excavated here and it became Utah’s first state monument. The archaeological history and human remains date back 11–12,000 years. Elmer Smith began scientific work in the 1930’s and a “rock broke from the lip of the entrance, narrowly missing the excavation party.” Smith ended the study but the cave earned the name, “Danger Cave.” Guided tours, are available. Both Smith and Jessie Jennings in 1949, are archaeologists that were early to document the significant site.</p>
