You knew your parents were not willing to go, or at least one of the two, so you reached out to aunts, uncles, grandparents, or one of the two parents to build an alliance. With the help of these new authoritative forces, you could convince the stubborn parent or parents that the trip to X was worth it, even beneficial to all involved.</p>
