They had the power to rule and needed to continue this tradition if they wanted to continue to have this power and rule over Ancient Egypt. With one important strategy they were able to consolidate and justify their authority to rule.</p> <p>They managed to do this through divine power. Ancient Egypt was highly religious in nature and were great believers in the power and authority of the divine beings. Having the support of the gods and goddesses of Egypt helped the Pharaohs to proclaim themselves as rulers.</p> <p>The kings portrayed themselves as individuals who were imbued with the divine power of the deities, which naturally made them the right people to take care of Egypt and protect them from their enemies. They proclaimed themselves as descendants of the gods and that made them semi-divine.
