Generation-X And The Un-Retirement Boom
<p>This story was inspired by a YouTube video I recently watched about working during retirement. It was done by a Financial Coach, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@saraconklinfrozenpennies" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Frozen Pennies, </a>and focused on 27 things that women over 50 could do to supplement their retirement income. Sadly most on the list were not digital or even remote type of jobs. I think this financial planner missed an opportunity, but she may also just be recognizing that many in her audience may not have the opportunity, interest, or ability to pivot into online and e-commerce work.</p>
<p>I would also like to acknowledge that she did focus on things that could bring in money fairly quickly, some e-commerce things that I am doing do not fit that category and will take years to build out, but my point is, to have this digital money streams available for retirement, you need to start building it now before you get to retirement. Many of the jobs she mentioned are valuable to society such as child care, house cleaning & elder companionship, but for some, the physical aspect may get to be a bit much and you are still trading hours of labour rather than looking for something more passive and flexible.</p>
