You Exit the Game When You Realise How to Retire For Good

Retirement isn’t the absence of work, it’s the lack of unworthy work.

The work you know leads to emptiness. You’d think it would be easy to identify such work but in my experience, it isn’t.

Most typically you have a slow realisation that your endeavours will likely be fruitless. That your pursuit is likely to end up in a room you don’t desire to be in. It’s a realisation that you edge towards as you spend more time on this thing.

But there are some tell-tale signs you’re in the wrong career. And I want to tell you about them.

It doesn’t spark your curiosity

Here’s the thing, a good indication of worthy work is work that interests you. Work that bores you silly is an obvious indication that maybe this path isn’t right for you.

It’s important to not confuse types of work with activities in work.

For instance, if you're a Product Manager, the type of work you’ll be involved is in: organising stuff, having conversations and filtering out important work, speaking to customers, and thinking about the future state of the work.
