Rep. Marjorie Greene is Threatening to Shut Down the Government.
<p>Unless Republican and Democrats can come to an agreement by September 30th, we once again find ourselves in the all too familiar position where the government will not be able to function by the end of the month. It’s that far too predictable scenario where our lawmakers positions themselves to be in a standoff, using the incredibly frustrating situation in order to give themselves leverage over their fellow politicians.</p>
<p>Of course, no one should be shocked that Georgia’s Republican congresswoman Marjorie Greene is one of them.</p>
<p>Martin Pengelly with <em>The Guardian</em> <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/sep/01/us-government-shutdown-marjorie-taylor-greene" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">writes</a>:</p>

Kevin McCarthy, the speaker who has only a five-seat majority, has indicated he will approve an impeachment inquiry when the House comes back this month.</p>
<p>“If we shut down, all the government shuts down — investigation and everything else,” McCarthy <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/30/us/politics/mccarthy-spending-shutdown.html" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">told Fox News</a> last weekend, calling impeachment a “natural step forward” from current investigations…”</p>

<p>So, this is really happening.</p>
<p>Either Joe Biden is going to be impeached — which McCarthy has indicated he’s in favor of to begin with — or the government is going to be shut down.</p>
