The ‘Stairway To Heaven’ Will Be Removed in 2023

Hawaii’s iconic “Stairway to Heaven”, also known as the Haiku Stairs, is finally decided to be dismantled after so many years of controversy and legal battles.

The stairs were originally constructed during World War II by the US Navy to serve as a top-secret radio transmission station at the summit of the mountain. The station, which was mainly used to transmit radio messages to submarines, was of course decommissioned after the war and the stairs were left unused.

The trail consists of a series of steep stairs that climb the Ko’olau Mountain Range and offer breathtaking views of the Hawaiian island.
