The Referendum

“See you soon, Mum. Love you,” I say as I end the call, then I proceed to park and walk up to the gallery. The first woman I see when I walk in, she’s taking in the beautiful pieces of artwork around her. She’d been away for 11 days, working remotely with the community and visiting family. She greeted me with a much-needed hug. I missed her greatly. I aspire to be such a strong woman like her. She looked gorgeous, and I know this is off-topic, but I need you to hear how, in my eyes, I see my Mum — a beautiful single woman who works so hard every day to better herself. She’s come such a long way in the last 10 years. “Missed you so much, my mummy. You look gorgeous.” She thanked me, and the feeling of being back together felt so warm.
