Bridging the Gap — A Call for More Public Recycling Bins
<p>Recycle, reuse, and recycle, often referred to as the 3Rs, have been ingrained into every US citizen’s mind since an early age. Especially in today’s urgent situation where the problem of climate change has intensified, the significance of the 3Rs is greater than ever.</p>
<p>The government, especially the Department of Sanitation, has the responsibility to advocate for a greener lifestyle. One pivotal step is to increase access to public recycling bins around the city. However, living in the vibrant city of New York, I did not see many recycling bins. In my apartment, there is only one waste chute for tenants to throw their garbage. On the streets, a single kind of litter basket is a common scene.</p>
