Recommender systems ft. SHAP — Making business travel approval easier

<p>As a travel management company (TMC), Egencia offers B2B customers travel management tools, among which approval is an important one. More than 50% of Egencia&rsquo;s customers use approval for at least one type of business trip, i.e., have at least a configuration requiring approval for a trip, and it allows customers to verify that their employees follow their company travel policies.</p> <p><iframe frameborder="0" height="480" scrolling="no" src="https://cdn.embedly.com/widgets/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FJmmw4gttwb8%3Ffeature%3Doembed&amp;display_name=YouTube&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DJmmw4gttwb8&amp;image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FJmmw4gttwb8%2Fhqdefault.jpg&amp;key=a19fcc184b9711e1b4764040d3dc5c07&amp;type=text%2Fhtml&amp;schema=youtube" title="Make business travel approval easy using Egencia's data powered approval recommendation tool" width="854"></iframe></p> <h1>Basic trip approval functionality</h1> <p>Let us assume a travel manager decides to activate approval for all the employees who book an international flight more expensive than $500. In this case:</p> <p>Every time a user books an international flight above this amount, say $550, the booking is finalized only once their approver approves it. The approver might ask the user to change this flight and in this case the booking is rejected.</p> <p>If an employee of this company books a domestic flight of any amount or an international flight that costs less than the configured threshold, say $400, Egencia will confirm the booking at once without the need for approval.</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/amex-gbt-technology/recommender-systems-ft-shap-making-business-travel-approval-easier-39ba3c04f9cf">Click Here</a></p>
