The land of rainbows and unicorns

To me, the time on the verge of February and March marks the time of change. It’s the time when winter finally gives up and one can smell spring approaching. The days become longer, the new energy settles in and I finally feel like I can do things: go out, explore, move, make some new plans, change. It also marks four years since I first moved to Scotland and three years since I’ve started settling in. What a journey that’s been!

I fell in love with Edinburgh almost 7 years ago, when together with my brother we followed Biffy Clyro to T in the Park and stayed here for a week. Getting off the bus in the middle of the night, with National Gallery, Walter Scott Monument and the castle gently lit by the moonlight, felt truly magical. We roamed empty streets and closes all night long, and then watched the sunrise from Salisbury Crags. Already then I knew that someday I’d come back here ‘for longer’. Wasn’t sure for quite how long, but I knew I would, and I did. Currently I have no plans to leave. For almost two years now, I’ve been calling Edinburgh my home of choice.

Learn More
