American Indians And Racism
<p>I went up to Wisconsin for a job in a town near the Menominee reservation. My Supervisor, who was white, told me I may have problems because I looked like an Indian. I did have problems but I didn’t realize it until years later.</p>
<h2>The Crew</h2>
<p>We were a crew of about ten people. Most were white but there were two people from the Menominee Reservation. I became good friends with one of them. Some of us worked together for a few years.</p>
<h2>Life Long Friends</h2>
<p>I became friends with one guy on the crew. He was an ironworker who was laid off when he was hired to work on an archaeology project where I met him. Some of the college-educated people looked down on him because he was an Indian and a blue-collar worker.</p>
