I’ve Been Saved By Queer Kindness

<p>Next week, we will leave Turkey. I&rsquo;ve never left this country. I&rsquo;ve never seen the world or met the other people living there. The world is an enigma to me in so many ways. Life is almost devoid of hope when you feel like you are in the bottomless pit of despair.</p> <p>I haven&rsquo;t been to school in two years. I should have, and I want to.&nbsp;Yet, the education system in my country will not respect my identity or accept my pronouns. I have to deadname myself every time my name is asked. I am not prepared to do that.&nbsp;Every time my dead name is used, my heart sinks.
