The Punishment of Being a Woman
<p>When a girl is born, given that she survives female infanticide and gender-selective abortion, she is already a victim of gender stereotyping and sexism. A <a href="https://www.fastcompany.com/3059328/when-female-babies-cry-men-discount-their-distress#:~:text=In%20babies%2C%20there%20is%20no,a%20period%20of%20four%20months." rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">study</a> by BMC Psychology found that when a baby girl cries, her needs are more likely to be overlooked than a boy’s. Another study found that mothers feed baby girls less than boys. This is just the beginning of the suffering and predisposition that women will have to endure throughout their lives.</p>
<p>Girls and women have had to endure sexism, violence, and prejudice for centuries. While a war against women has been labelled as a hyperbole, warfare is, in fact, a reasonable comparison to the incessant violence that women have to tolerate. The hideous treatment that women undergo is nothing short of punishment, something that continues to thrive in the 21st century.</p>
