Winter Break in the Province of Quebec
<p>When I was 8 years old, my parents took me to Italy over Christmas break, and I was miserable.</p>
<p>I had a wishlist of Transformers, G.I.Joes, and Thundercats, but <a href="https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babbo_Natale" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank"><em>Babbo Natale </em></a><em>was</em> not going to be able to translate this for me.</p>
<p>Decades later, I am now faced with a similar trip — a return to my maternal grandparents’ hometown in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna, along with various stops in northern Tuscany, Rome, and Pompeii.</p>
