Why the British don’t elect their Prime Ministers
<p>The United Kingdom has suffered a seemingly insurmountable level of political instability lately. The reasons for this are complex, and to some extent, reflect global political trends.</p>
<p>However, when we remind ourselves that the UK has gone through five Prime Ministers since 2010, and that all have represented the same party, it’s easy to see that British politics is in a bit of a mess.</p>
<p>With a turnaround that makes the government look like the local branch of McDonalds, it’s not surprising that many of our PMs have taken office without winning a general election.</p>
