Why we can’t predict IQ from genes
<p>Some genes are simple. It’s easy to predict eye color.</p>
<p>Some genes are complicated. It’s hard to predict how tall your child will be. That’s because height is controlled by thousands of separate genes, those all add up to make you a little bit shorter or taller.</p>
<p>In the last decade, people made some breakthroughs with these complicated genes. For the first time in history, we were starting to understand complex genetic traits. A 2017 paper showed that we could predict height pretty well with genes:</p>
