The Potluck Tales: Lessons in Event Logistics & How to Plan Your Next Event Well
<p>On Thursday, I and another fellow colleague hosted an organizational potluck — the first after many years of not having one. Not sure when the last one was.</p>
<p>There was a last-minute location change due to circumstances out of our control. However, the turn out was positive. 35 people in attendance, a good array of food options: a couple of main dishes, a couple of soups, a few appetizers, a couple of side dishes, and, of course, desserts.</p>
<p>The alternate location ended up being a good location. Despite the distance, the venue is large enough to cater to a huge number of people with free parking, which was a concern for many when we considered to host initially at a local university cafe that can hold 75 people comfortably. The parking around campus can be tedious and frustrating at best.</p>
