Artist and Podiatric Detective-ish + a Recipe

Last night, as I was getting cozy in bed, tucking pillows under my knees and sit-bones in hopes of sleeping on my back with both feet pointed forward all night (not doctor’s orders, just something I imagine might help to correct the right-foot-pointed-to-2 o’clock thing), I remembered there is year-old footage of my feet in action. Almost a year ago, I was hired by a shoe company to create a painting with my feet, and I recorded the process with two cameras focused entirely on my feet. (Click here to watch the video).

Imagine my delight!

Hours and hours of footage of nothing but my gait — a unique opportunity to mine the space between my toes and ankles and bring back a gem to my physical therapist, so it seemed until I watched the videos. Okay, I didn’t stay up all night and watch every moment of every footstep, but I skimmed through enough minutes to see old righty pointed forward or inward more often than outward … oh my.

So this foot thing, whatever it is, it’s not a life-long thing. It’s a less-than-year-old dislocation or a maladaptation of some kind or another. What did I do? What changed? Maybe it’s my body trying to tell me something, like, “Over there! Over there! Go that way!”
