A World War II Veteran’s Harrowing Journey of Survival, from Pearl Harbor to the Sinking of the USS Indianapolis
<p>Writing has given me a good life, as well as a memorable one. Over the past 39 years, I have hopped from one literary adventure to another, and encountered scores of people with a fascinating story to tell.</p>
<p>My subjects have spanned both time and the four corners of society. I’ve listened to Gen. Tommy Franks speak of the hunt for Osama Bin Laden at Tora Bora … heard Mildred Cleghorn recall her first memories of freedom at age four as a former Chiricahua Apache prisoner of war in 1914 … and remember retired New York Yankees shortstop Frank Crosetti talk about witnessing Babe Ruth’s “Called Shot” in the 1933 World Series. Thankfully, the list goes on.</p>
