Paul McCartney Says Jimmy Buffett’s New, Last Song May Be His Best Ever

A week after Jimmy Buffett died, his new song “Bubbles Up” was released. Sir Paul McCarney called it “probably the best I’ve heard him sing ever.”

Is “Bubble’s Up” Buffett’s best song ever? Will it be as big a hit as his earlier hits? I have no idea, but we know Paul McCartney knows a lot about making hit songs (McCartney has scored 22 №1 hits).

And McCartney was there, performing with Buffett (who died at 76) on that final album. So, as soon as we heard the McCartney comments, we needed to hear “Bubbles Up” as quickly as possible.

The true meaning of the phrase Bubbles Up? Jimmy Buffett turns it into his last big hit to show us the way to live

When a boat capsizes, sailors are taught to follow the air bubbles up to the surface to keep from drowning. Those little bubbles point them “the way up” to safety.

McCartney explained on social media:

“We had a real fun session, and he played me some of his new songs,” McCartney wrote. “One, in particular, I loved was the song, ‘Bubbles Up’. And I told him that not only was the song great, but the vocal was probably the best I’ve heard him sing ever.”
