Northampton man 90 takes part in his 500th parkrun challenge
<p>Guess what? A 90-year-old from Walgrave, Northamptonshire just completed his 500th Parkrun!</p>
<p>Can you believe it? Bob Emmerson has been participating in these weekly timed 5km runs for the last 11 years, ever since he heard about it on BBC Radio Northampton.</p>
<p>The event takes place at Northampton Racecourse every Saturday morning, and Mr. Emmerson is like a local celebrity there.</p>
<p>It’s pretty impressive considering he’s had both of his hips resurfaced! Almost all of his Park runs have been at the Northampton event, but he’s also done a few in other places like Brixworth Country Park, Daventry, and Kettering in Northamptonshire, as well as Darlington in County Durham, Market Harborough in Leicestershire, and even Bushy Park in London.</p>
<p>Mr. Emmerson used to be a hardcore runner back in the day, completing ultra-distance and 24-hour races. His best time for a marathon was an incredible two hours, forty minutes, and twenty-five seconds. Talk about</p>
<p>a warm welcome. Just so you know, Parkrun is this awesome free event that happens every Saturday at 9:00 in lots of different spots across the UK. And get this, it’s all organized and run by volunteers, so everyone can join in regardless of their fitness level.</p>
