A French in America
<p>For a long time, I have refused to make comparisons between the United States and France, having lived in both countries. I often find these comparisons annoying and unproductive.</p>
<p>Several months ago, when my friend Yuwei asked me if I had watched ‘Emily in Paris,’ I remember telling her: “I don’t watch these American stereotypes about Paris or the Parisians. Too many clichés.” I brushed off this new streaming series on Netflix about the adventures of a young American woman in the French capital, her adjustment to Parisian life and the French culture.</p>
