Paris Catacombs — A Warm Date with the Dead

I’ve always been fascinated by how different cultures deal with death and their awe and respect of the dead, probably because of my upbringing in Taiwan, a Southeast Asian country where death is a taboo to be avoided and feared of, that I feel like I learned something about life and death every time I visit a different place that pays respect to this topic and allows me to explore. This catacomb (or any other cemetery) doesn’t seem to be among one of the most popular sightseeing destinations for Asian tourists, reasons obvious, but I felt really peaceful and at ease during my visit to the Paris Catacombs, as if I were a student and this place was my greatest teacher, or as if the remains rested at the Catacombs were an ode to life for us to read.
