Paid Period Leave is Here — But Women Don’t Want It
<p>Inthe recent past, India really hasn’t been good to its women. It’s “<a href="https://www.livemint.com/news/india/marital-rape-man-cant-be-charged-if-wife-is-18-or-above-says-allahabad-high-court-11702232741305.html" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">marital rape is not rape” policy</a> from a few weeks ago just rehashes the subcontinent as a misogynistic neo-theocracy.</p>
<p>Despite India’s poor reputation concerning women’s rights and safety, its Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) recently released a draft <a href="https://main.mohfw.gov.in/sites/default/files/Draft%20Menstrual%20Hygiene%20Policy%202023%20-For%20Comments.pdf" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Menstrual Hygiene Policy</a> for the year 2023.</p>
<p>This policy is multifaceted. Highlighting the need to research better materials in the production and disposal of period products in the country, it mentions a need for <em>sound menstrual health education</em> and <em>allocating resources for persons with disabilities</em>.</p>
