Why Overpopulation is a much bigger issue than Overconsumption
<p>We often hear “It’s overconsumption not overpopulation” which is the big issue. I disagree.</p>
<p>My reason is that I do not want to leave the poor… poor. I agree that the excessive consumption of whatever it may be, the top 5% or so of global population, must reduce.</p>
<p>Then if we accept that the next 5–10% or so are about at an acceptable level of consumption for a decent quality of life (a lifestyle on an approximate salary of $45–$55k USD, modest but sufficient) that still leaves another 85–90% who deserve to consume more, and a great many of them, very much more.</p>
