Dublin & Oscar Wilde

On the bus from the airport, I spoke to the bus driver and called my drop-off location a “quay,” but the bus driver pronounced it “key.” Awkward. I’m not sure if it’s just an Irish pronunciation or the correct way to pronounce the word, but I’ll go ahead and pronounce it “key” from now on.

Central Dublin feels big and bustling, like a real, thriving city! It’s exciting to be here. After getting off the bus, I checked in at the hotel where I’d be meeting my fellow travelers.

I’m joining a tour group and a month ago met everyone at the NPR (National Public Radio, or Kansas Public Radio) station headquarters in the college town of Lawrence, Kansas. There are a couple guys, Bob and Phil, who work for NPR who will travel with us, in addition to our tour guide, Dave (also a guy — I’m glad there are a lot of women in the tour group).
