25-Word Reviews of 25 Comics… One Last Time
<p>Even I can admit, Dear Reader, that the 25-word reviews of 25 ___ formula ain’t exactly a spring chicken anymore. We’ve done it with <a href="https://medium.com/@benny.regalbuto/25-word-reviews-of-25-science-fiction-and-fantasy-books-7b66e5f7e68" rel="noopener">fantasy and sci-fi books</a>, we’ve done it with <a href="https://medium.com/the-amazing-comic-book-reviews/25-word-reviews-of-25-superhero-video-games-3e81b3ab66cc" rel="noopener">superhero video games</a>, we’ve done it with <a href="https://medium.com/@benny.regalbuto/25-word-reviews-of-25-progressive-rock-albums-c9b496b6abd2" rel="noopener">progressive rock albums</a> — we’ve gone over 25 rainbows and back.</p>
<p>Last time we did it with <a href="https://medium.com/the-amazing-comic-book-reviews/25-word-reviews-of-25-more-comics-7b509bdb0280" rel="noopener">the funny pages</a>, I alluded to my desire to reach 100 comics, and, well, here we are. By the time you finish reading this, we’ll have gone through that many mini-comic reviews together.</p>
<p>You know what I’m gonna say by now, don’tcha? We’re using the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics" rel="noopener ugc nofollow" target="_blank">Wikipedia definition of comics</a> as our reference point, which for our purposes includes includes the individual issues of a series (e.g., <a href="https://medium.com/the-amazing-comic-book-reviews/the-amazing-spider-man-31-33-review-ad04dee48698" rel="noopener"><em>The Amazing Spider-Man</em> #31–33</a>), original graphic novels (e.g., <a href="https://medium.com/the-amazing-comic-book-reviews/interview-with-comics-creator-moro-rogers-bf40f7651414" rel="noopener"><em>City in the Desert</em></a>), manga (e.g., <a href="https://medium.com/the-amazing-comic-book-reviews/akira-toriyama-dragon-ball-and-visual-storytelling-in-comics-ae2512063dda" rel="noopener"><em>Dragon Ball</em></a>), newspaper strips (e.g., <em>Peanuts</em>), and webcomics (e.g., <em>Hark! A Vagrant</em>). And of course:</p>
<ul>
<li>Each review is 25 words <em>as counted by Medium</em>, meaning hyphenated compound words count as two each.</li>
<li>This is not a ranking; each entry is reviewed individually.</li>
<li>I will include a highlight from each entry.</li>
</ul>
<p>This is all old hat to you by now; I can practically feel your eyes glazing over. But worry not, Dear Reader, for this is the last time we’ll go through this rigmarole. So let’s not waste anymore time and go out with a bang — or, as they say in comics onomatopoeia, a “BANG! POW! ZOK!”</p>
