Ohio’s Transgender Bill is a Win for Common Sense

“This bill, if enacted, will be the cause of MANY deaths and suicides,” professed a concerned Ohio citizen, Julian Jaffe, in front of the Ohio Senate’s Government Oversight Committee then-deliberating Ohio’s House Bill 68. Jaffe continued, “it goes against all human empathy and compassion.”

Jaffe was one of quite literally hundreds of Ohioans who testified in opposition to the bill. The highly-contested house bill was easily passed in December, only to be vetoed by Governor DeWine on December 28th.

DeWine’s veto sparked vicious backlash, garnering national attention from the likes of Charlie Kirk, Matt Walsh, and others. But the historically Republican-held legislature took action to override DeWine’s veto, with the House voting to override on January 10th, and the Ohio Senate following suit on Wednesday.
