NPS Grants Have Been Given To Preserve World War II Camps

<p>President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which allowed military commanders to remove any persons from certain areas of the United States. The order was only used against Japanese Americans and Japanese immigrants on the West Coast of the continental United States. Two thirds of the people affected were American citizens.</p> <p>Around 120,000 persons were forcibly removed from their homes and placed in what are now called American Concentration Camps. The ten camps were hastily constructed in remote and desolate areas of the country. Two camps were located in each of the states of California, Arizona, and Arkansas.
