For the Next Track

<p>In2019 I started running road races, and steadily since then, the sport has been a fulfilling outlet for me. But this past marathon training cycle, my third, something started to feel different. I felt exhausted in an unfamiliar kind of way, and the extremes of training felt harder to justify.&nbsp;<em>What is this?</em>,<em>&nbsp;</em>I wondered.&nbsp;<em>Am I done with running?</em></p> <p>To make sense of this shift I first have to take a step back.</p> <p>Coming from a family of artists, music is another passion of mine. And when it comes to music, I&rsquo;m most often drawn to the parts of a song or genre that have a foundational, even mechanical impact on the overall feel. I&rsquo;m talking about rhythm and bass, synthesizers, drones, and even silence. Sometimes you have to be patient to fully realize their contribution.
