We Are All Mystics

Although we live in a world where the masses favor materialism, we are all mystics. As a kid, I loved playing in my neighbor’s garden. I’d run between rows of beans twined around arched canes while my neighbor, Uncle Jack, sat shelling peas and stroking his ginger tomcat, Moses.

Uncle Jack communed with God while tossing peas into a woven basket or putting his hands in the earth, planting seeds. Even though I was just a kid, I knew that when absorbed in his work, he was no longer in the garden. Physically, he was right there, but emotionally, his heart soared with the angels.
