My Journey Through ML and DL : Simplified Insights for Beginners

Recently I’ve been spending a lot of time watching YouTube videos and have enrolled in more online courses than I can count, all in pursuit of grasping the basics of deep learning and machine learning. And you know what I’ve found? A lot of people use the terms Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science interchangeably.

So first let’s see what exactly does these term mean on their own or are they the same?

Artificial Intelligence (AI): Artificial Intelligence is basically teaching a machine or a computer to mimic human intelligence. It’s all about making machines smart, helping them handle tasks and process data in ways that are downright human-like.

Machine Learning (ML): ML is all about teaching machines to spot patterns in data. It’s like showing your computer how to recognize cat videos or predict stock prices based on heaps of historical data.

Deep Learning: This one’s like ML’s brainy cousin. Deep learning involves running data through something called a “neural network” which is inspired by the way our own brains work. (Hence the term ‘neural network’). It learns features and tasks directly from that data. It is the magic behind voice assistants, image recognition, and more.

Sure, these terms sound fancy but they’re all basically about the same thing which is — making machines smart so they can handle data like pros and make our lives a whole lot easier.
