My Mother’s Magic

From one rented shop to another, the business grew. We were now tapping to a bigger set of audience and by 2006 we had a pretty much stable setup with 8 tailors, 2 embroiders and 2 helpers working with us. We had people coming from different cities to get their clothes stitched. And mind you, this was all word-of-mouth, there was no social media marketing done. With no formal training in fashion designing, my mother still managed to create magic with her designs. As a 14 year old, I used to love that I can get new clothes stitched every now and then (as a 33 year old, I still love it). The love and magic she weaves into each piece of clothing is inspiring for me each day and every day. Each and every customer wanted her to be around when finalizing their designs that meant she would end up working 7 days a week. And with work, she would manage the house, make sure she is spending enough time with me and my brother and fulfilling all her motherly duties without complaining.

Website
