The Monty Hall Problem, Explained

At first glance, the answer seems to be simple. There are two unopened doors, with a goat behind one and a car behind the other. The chance that your door has the car is 0.5, and the chance that the other, unopened door has the car is also 0.5, right? It doesn’t matter whether you switch or not, the odds of you picking the car would be the same.

However, when Marilyn Vos Savant, the person with the highest recorded IQ ever, was posed with this question, she gave an answer that surprised the world.
