Empowering New Beginnings: Passages Charter School’s Commitment to Migrant Families
<p>A few days ago, the dedicated staff of Passages Charter School took an inspiring initiative to extend support to migrant families recently placed at the Broadway Armory shelter. Although they were unable to enter the building, our Assistant Principal, Erica Hernandez, managed to engage with some of the families and inform them about Passages’ programs tailored for non-English speaking students who have arrived in Chicago as refugees or migrants.</p>

<p>Yesterday, over 15 families and their children made the journey from the Broadway Armory to Passages, where they enrolled their children. When I visited Passages to meet them in person, I was struck by the evident happiness of the parents and their ease, as if they were in a school in their home country. </p>
