Cohort Stories: Meet Hamdi

I carry my identity of being a Somali immigrant as my pride and joy. Before I migrated to the states with my family, I spent my earlier years in Kenya and Uganda being a part of communities made of migrants that fled from neighboring war-torn countries like Somalia. I saw firsthand the importance of resilience, empathy, and, most importantly, community. When we arrived in the states my family pursued the “American Dream”. Like my family, each immigrant I met has their own stories of sacrifice, hard work, and perseverance. My upbringing gave me a drive for excellence, to be better than the person I was yesterday, so their sacrifice wasn’t made in vain.

Technology is the future, with each day passing it becomes more ingrained in our daily lives across every industry. The power that technology has on shaping the future of humanity is exciting, yet overwhelming to see. Technology’s advancement in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics is accelerating at an unprecedented rate.
