Margarita Makarova. God. Stages of understanding

It is possible that the paintings of this series will seem unusual to someone. Not quite, as they say, in tradition. People like to close windows and doors from everything new. But this is a graveyard. We learn words and thoughts. We show our education by quoting other people’s thoughts. And “it is necessary to teach not thoughts, but to think” (Immanuel Kant).

I wanted to reflect on my beliefs, my aspirations and positions. I saw that every person born for suffering and trials, born as an ordinary woman, becomes to some extent a god. I wanted to re-evaluate myself and the world, and the events in it. Man in this world. Your position. I felt that a paradigm shift was needed. I wanted to portray my first person experience. The birth of God — where the crown of thorns is a system of rules and restrictions of society. We are born and we die, but we don’t know if we have become human or just chickens with complex emotional lives. An educational practice that encourages memorization rather than understanding what is happening leads to disorientation in the world. We worship the gods. There are so many. And ultimately we pray to ourselves. To always be an observer and not a participant, that is suffering. We do not participate in our own lives, we go with the flow, giving ourselves up to false values.
