Not a Force Majeure Event

<p>On September 2, the IFT issued two resolutions in response to the shutdown of two Mexico City radio stations for reasons that their owner claimed were&nbsp;<em>force majeure</em>&nbsp;events. However, the agency isn&rsquo;t buying Grupo Radio Centro&rsquo;s line as to why it closed down XEEST-AM 1440 and XERED-AM 1110.</p> <p>Now, the case will be forwarded to the Compliance Unit, which could impose potential sanctions.</p> <p>Article 157 of the LFTR allows stations to suspend service due to&nbsp;<em>force majeure</em>&nbsp;events but is otherwise strict on how and why stations can cease broadcasting in order to ensure the continuity of broadcasting service:</p> <p><a href="https://medium.com/en-frecuencia/not-a-force-majeure-event-a326946400cc"><strong>Website</strong></a></p>
