I know that many people do not like to acknowledge “luck.” We live in a culture that glorifies pulling yourself up by your bootstraps. Success never just happens; it is all about working hard. Success is always earned. Working fifty- and sixty-hour weeks is worn as a badge of honor.
But as my wife and I settle into our new home, I can’t help but acknowledge my unbelievable luck at the age of almost 71.
Before reading any further, I want you to know that there are no lessons here. I simply felt compelled to share my story with the world for reasons I cannot begin to understand.
