I Had Possibly THE Most Low-Key Retirement EVER From Ministry

It’s difficult to overstate the impact that just saying the words “I am going to retire” had on my mental health.

It felt like a crippling burden had been lifted.

Of course, there was an awful lot to do in a short space of time. It was essential to try and finish well, or at least as well as possible in such circumstances.

I was concerned that my recently arrived colleague was looked after. None of what had happened was her fault. The diocese quickly decided to move her to a new parish. Fortunately, a suitable parish was nearby—and plans were made for her to move and continue her training.
