In Praise of “In Praise of a Low Key Summer”

Myteaching contract ended in the middle of June and the next one won’t start until the end of August. For those who are doing the quick math, that gives me 10 weeks. Teachers, eh?

Ten weeks to do….what?

Trust me when I tell you that twenty years into a teaching career, I have made the most of the time off afforded to me in the summer, mostly through the escape hatch of travel.

I have been on the road, somewhere in the world, every summer since 2008. I feel nothing but gratitude to have been able to do that, but also to be able to do something different if it suits me.
