Antoni Gaudí — A Lonely Genius

<p>We can admire the extremely original and magical buildings of this outstanding Catalan architect in Barcelona. His work has become a symbol of the city and attracts millions of tourists from all over the world.</p> <p>Antoni Gaud&iacute; was born in 1852 in the small village of Reus in Catalonia. When he was a child, he got ill very often, which limited his contacts with his peers and friends and condemned him to loneliness. He suffered from rheumatism so his doctor advised him to become a vegetarian. He continued this diet for the rest of his life and he even became obsessed with healthy food and very strict diets.
