Linus Media Group’s Failure Signals The End Of An Era

Linus Tech Tips is one of the oldest YouTube channels I have been following for well over a decade. It also happens to be one of the very few I kept regularly watching despite the many changes it has gone through over the years, and it generally being anti-Apple, a lot like Louis Rossman’s, though for very different reasons. I kept watching because living in an echo chamber as a technologist is the last thing I’d want. The same LTT that created — sorry, modified — a white-labelled backpack, a screwdriver, a blade, then proceeded to advertise it like it was a VIP ticket to heaven itself? And that’s on top of all the pillows, hoodies, T-shirts, water bottles and God knows what else. Watching an LTT video is like walking through a crowd of religious zealots, all trying to sell you some form of salvation subject to an exorbitant fee.

Linus Tech Tips has gone from a useful tech channel to a shameless, ultra-aggressive advertisement platform.

Coupled with nonchalant arrogance, bro culture — from the outside looking in — and an all too typical “too big to fail” attitude, it’s no wonder the Linus Media Group ended up finding itself it hot water over highly questionable and outright misleading testing and reporting. Fabricated…
