Leicester 2023, Moments, Meanderings And Memories. Part 29 — Street Art

Street Art can be an emotive subject. Graffiti was (and in a lot of cases still is) considered an unsociable practise. An Americanism practised illegally by miscreants and seen as vandalism. And it is true some graffiti is just that, but from those original colourful blockish ‘tags,’ talent can be seen. And in so many places around the world now it has been embraced by town and city planners and areas are set aside for that artistic talent to be given a chance to flourish.

Non-descript walls are given a breath of life and the talent is plain to see, even if the walls are no longer plain. Leicester City Council has set up some legal sites for artists to create on in various places around the city, and other homes and businesses have allowed, and requested for their walls to be used.
