A meeting with the king Cobra: A conservation workshop P1

I recently signed up for a conservation workshop on…wait for it…the king cobra (the longest, venomous snake on earth ) at the Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE), an environmental research centre based in Agumbe. Agumbe is a small village in Karnataka, situated in the Western Ghats region of India, which means it’s divinely located amidst a gorgeous, green rainforest cover! You must visit if you haven’t already.

I have several reasons why I decided to be a part of this workshop. One of my goals this year is to spend more time (read: at least once a quarter) in the forests because a) I feel at home among trees and b) because living in the city, I needed a regular reminder of what impact my daily actions are having on our environment, ecology and biodiversity.
