4,642 kilometers worth of dreams

I’ve often watched people in interviews say ‘out-of-body experience’. Silly. They meant when they almost died or are witnessing a gruesome scene, so shocking to the human eye, the subconscious decides it wants to bail.

One last video-call from my friend Paulo. It was not to be our last, but it felt like I was holding on to the minutes that ticked by so fast during our call. Paulo is one of my very emotionally-adept friends. As quick-witted as he is in court, he is equally so when it comes to sensing how I feel. Our conversation was light and encouraging. But — not of his fault — I felt entirely heavy.
